Electronic music lovers invaded Parc Jean-Drapeau for the two-day ÎleSoniq festival on August 5 & 6. The Decompoz team was on location to live the experience of a music event that is carving up quite a name for itself. Immersed in the crowd to get a good feel of the ÎleSoniq experience, it was evident that the theme of love was one that was present all over the venue.

The crowd joyfully mingled together to create an electric party atmosphere. Festivalgoers embraced each other, jumped up to the sound of the beat, or challenged one another to a friendly battle of shuffle dancing. The songs blaring from the speakers on all three stages touched on subjects such as love, heartbreak, and party, themes that the new EDM generation is far too familiar with.

The love theme was represented by a Kandi Station where participants had the chance to build custom bracelets and necklaces with an array of colorful beads. The bracelets were then meant to be traded with other strangers, symbolizing that a new friendship has been born.

Some attendees dug into their closet to pull out the most outlandish attire and provide a more joyful atmosphere as the crowd smiled and rushed to take a picture with whoever was wearing the wackiest outfit.

Keeping things upbeat, similar to other EDM festivals, ÎleSoniq delved into the fantastic by turning the venue into a magic kingdom with quirky décor spread throughout the island. A color array of giant mushrooms and large sized decorated eggs made up the landscape of the main stage. To take a rest from the nonstop dancing, hammocks were installed under the shades of trees, while water fountains were a great idea to catch a breath of freshness under the scorching sun.

La Vie Bud Light stage played host to a number of House acts, notably Oliver Heldens, Zeds Dead, and Andrew Bayer. Battling the heat, the snowmaking machine spurted water onto the crowd who seemed unfazed as the dance floor turned muddy thanks to the mix of dirt, water, and hundreds of shuffling feet.

A few meters away, among the forest trees, the NEON stage was the site to hear a slew of dance music acts with The W4rriors, Nghtmare, Jai Wolf, and as well as local talent Grandbuda who all delivered energetic performances.

The Oasis Fido stage which hosted the headlining acts such as The Chainsmokers, Zedd, and Skrillex was brought to life with an impressive light work and graphic screens projecting visually stunning images. With the sunset, the color scheme created by the lights took the ÎleSoniq experience on a new level with bursts of flame on top of the stage and fireworks to illuminate the dark sky. The terrace located on the left side of the stage was also in party mode with patrons dancing to the beat and overlooking the sea of festivalgoers gathered for the performances on the headlining stage.

Still relatively young, ÎleSoniq impressively puts on on great performances with world-renowned acts. Since its debut, there has been a steady growth of attendees with each year that passes and it is slated to comeback for a fourth year. Decompoz is patiently waiting for what the 2017 edition will have in store.
