Awolnation - by Pat Beaudry

// Festivalgoers everywhere have been counting down the days since the 2016 Osheaga line-up was released in May. So have we. After an amazing and unforgettable time at the three-day extravaganza last summer, the Decompoz Team is back for more, and “more” finally starts tomorrow at 1 p.m. on July 29th as Osheaga kicks off its 11th consecutive year of good vibes and even better music.

Just when you think something can’t get any better, which is the general sentiment after last year’s fest where over 135,000 flower-adorned attendees partied in variable weather conditions to their favourite artists, Osheaga announces a weekend program that would make anyone weak in the knees. With headline names like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Radiohead, Beirut, Cypress Hill, Half Moon Run, Flume, Daughter, Fakear, HAIM, Lana Del Rey, Future, MO, RÜFÜS DU SOL, M83, Disclosure, Lapsley, Gramatik, and many more, we’re certainly swooning. As if that isn’t enough to quicken the heart rate and induce mild fits of spastic excitement, this year’s line-up also includes an assortment of exciting Montreal originals such as Grimes, Busty and The Bass, Coeur de Pirate, and Kaytranada.

Aside from the certainty that the music at the festival will be wide-ranging and infallibly wonderful, there exist several other inevitabilities for Montreal’s favourite summer weekend. To name a few: everyone will look gorgeous in their summer’s best wear, the food and drinks will be mouth watering, and there will be an abundance of John-Lennon-style sunglasses present. Most importantly, however, the excitement and emotion at the festival will absolutely be palpable. Every year just like the last, it’s the people that make the festival one of the most highly anticipated events of the year. It's the crowd's energy; the electricity of new and old connections alike as music lovers come together under the sun to create an intoxicatingly sweet vibe of connectedness. It's for this reason that this year, Decompoz Magazine's focus will be on—well, you! The people. The Osheaga heart and experience. From the early bird hours on Friday all the way into Sunday's craziest after parties, Decompoz will be there in the belly of the beast to capture all of the weekend's best moments.
